Jason Aldean goes back to 1994

So Jason Aldean's new song is called 1994 and he went on Twitter today to ask what everyone looked like in 1994...

Jason tweeted, "Some of my fav artists had big hits in #1994 remind us what the style was like that year. Im talking to u @tracy_lawrence "

Tim responded with this pic saying, "hey @Jason_Aldean check out this shirt man, that was happenin' in 1994!"

and Keith Urban with this one

Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum joined the fun,
"Oh I love you for posting that...I think! ;) 1994 was a great year! Look at my dad's mullet!!! =)"

Dierks Bentley shared his 90s bedroom posters with Jason on WhoSay

Jason got Luke Bryan into the game saying,
"Hey @LukeBryanOnline were ur jeans as tight in #1994 as they are now? I gotta see a pic! Here's mine. I had a pager! "

Luke responded with this: @Jason_Aldean buddy, I'd say they aren't as tight but they are just as cool. #1994

Ok here's my 1994 picture...my sister and I rockin' skorts...skirt in the front, shorts in the back.  It was the mullet of clothes :)

Recognize the Shifting Sands in the background? My Dad served in the Marine Corps for 30 years and his reserve unit was at Dam Neck. We would ride down with him from Fredericksburg on the weekends he had duty.

We would grab our radio, head out to the beach on base and lay out all day with the radio tuned to 97.3.  Never would have guessed lying there listening to our favorite country songs that one day I'd be the one on the radio playing them!

btw remember the country hits from 1994?  Garth Brooks "Callin' Baton Rouge,"  Clay Walker "Dreamin' With My Eyes Open," Tim McGraw "Don't Take the Girl," Tracy Lawrence "I See It Now"

Yep, 1994 was a great year!

Mike Wolfe from American Pickers

I had the chance to meet Mike Wolfe from American Pickers at the Hampton Roads Home and Garden show last weekend. My husband and I LOVE this show! Every weekend is pretty much spent on the couch watching Mike and Frank dig through old barns for "Rusty Gold"

I was so excited to get the chance to talk with Mike about picking here in Va and his country music ties!

In case you missed the Little Big Town "Pontoon" video we mentioned...here ya go (Mike is at the 1:04 mark)

And here's the Alan Jackson picture he mentioned

too cool!

if you've never seen American Pickers this is all you need to know about the show!

You can catch it Mondays on the History Channel.

Are you atttracted to Keith Urban?

Ok after seeing this "Are you attracted to Tim McGraw" quiz I was inspired to create my own with another country cutie...Keith Urban!

Do you want to know what he's thinking about here?

Do you like amazing guitar players?

Do you want to BE this guitar?

Do you just want to watch this over and over?

Do you melt when you see how he looks at his wife?!

Do you still think he's cute while listening to bad singers on American Idol?

Do you wanna take a road trip with him?

Then, yes, YOU are attracted to Keith Urban

The Superbowl was almost ruined!

Yeah I know it's the "Big Game" but for me the Superbowl is all about the commercials and the food!

My menu:

Guilt Free Cauliflower Pizza Bites...guilt free and taste free!  BLECH!

Sweet Potato Biscuits Only one of mine came out looking like an actual biscuit...the rest were just lumpy discs of dough.

after these two I was worried the Superbowl would be ruined with Pinterest FAILS until...

Bake Spinach Dip Mini Bread Bowls.  So. Freaking. Good.  The saving grace of Superbowl Sunday.

Ok onto what I was really watching the game for: The commercials!

"God Made a Farmer" and everyone said Amen!

I wasn't the only one who loved this commercial...Martina McBride tweeted "Ok. THIS is the best commercial hands down."

Didn't cry enough over the Budweiser Clydesdale commercial the first time around?  Here's the extended version...grab the tissues!

This M&M commercial just made me feel bad about eating M&Ms

Seriously- as a kid I was convinced that all food had feelings.  My mother had to tell me that I would hurt my Pop-Tarts feelings if I didn't eat them.  It's no wonder I became a vegetarian at 12 :)

Tide Miracle Stain. Hands down the funniest commercial. Period.

And finally the worst of the worst.  The sound effects alone made me loose my appetite...terrible commercial and now I don't want to eat.  Way to ruin the Superbowl Go Daddy!

Then the blackout happened...and the Superbowl was saved...by Twitter! Seriously, every football game needs a blackout from now on!

Oreo had the best tweet of the night with this:  Power out? No problem

In the end the Ravens won. Even better than saying "I'm going to Disney World" doing snow angels in the confetti!

Ok- game is over. Let the memes begin!

Banana Bread Donuts with Nutella Glaze

All of my favorite things in one bite!  When I saw this recipe for Banana Bread Donuts with a Nutella Glaze on Pinterest I HAD to try it.

Oh. My. Goodness.

Because I only have a mini donut pan I decided to make some as muffins too.

I can't decide which was better.  Popping the donut into my mouth or sinking my teeth into the muffin.

One thing I do know...Nutella glaze is the best thing on earth!

It's so good I decided to dip more muffins into it. Like these "no flour, no butter, no oil" banana oat muffins that, unsurprisingly, had NO taste.

BAM!  Nutella glaze made even these muffins good!

Ok here's the recipe:
    For the donuts:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar (I used a Splenda baking blend to 1/2 the calories)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup egg beaters
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup mashed banana (about 1 small banana)

  1. Preheat oven to 325. Spray a donut pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine your dry ingredients. In another large bowl, combine remaining ingredients, through the banana. Stir dry ingredients into your wet ingredients.
  3. Fill donut pan with batter, about 2/3 full.
  4. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.

I used a mini donut pan and still ended up baking for 10 minutes.  To make them as muffins, heat the oven to 350 and bake 18-22 minutes.

For the Crack...I mean Nutella...glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 2 tablespoons Nutella
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk

Whisk together all icing ingredients; dip the tops of the donuts into the icing and garnish with sprinkles.

One tip: be sure that your muffins and donuts are cooled completely before dipping them into the glaze or it melts.
