Jerrod Niemann, Tyler Farr, Brett Eldredge and The Henningsens play "Would You Rather"

I decided to have a little fun with Jerrod Niemann, Tyler Farr, Brett Eldredge and The Henningsens at Winterblast by playing "Would You Rather"

So would Jerrod Niemann rather be pranked by Brad Paisley or have Taylor Swift write a song about him?

Would they rather forget the words on stage...or their clothes?

And who would they rather play for...the 49ers or the Ravens?

Watch and find out!

97.3 The Eagle's Winterblast 2013 at the Hampton Coliseum

Whew- is it possible to have a hangover without drinking?  I felt that way waking up this morning after Winterblast but it was worth it!  I stalked your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pics and found some of my favs from the show last night...

Brett Eldredge posted this shot on Instagram on the way to the show saying "Behind the scenes sleep deprived, delirious iPhone photo shoots...."

Later he tried to warm up in the broadcast area with Karen West!

Maggie Rose tweeted this picture of Mark McKay. I'm not sure I want to know what's going on there!
Steven Sloop shared Winterblast Challenge winners Levi Road, and their awesome washboard, on facebook.

@Alexgator13 tweeted
"Winterblast was so much fun!!! Those crazy girls with posters were us!"

@RomulaLynn snagged The Henningsens for a backstage shot
Looks like @s_burns7 had fun at Winterblast...going VIP and with her boots on!

No filter needed for this picture @JessicaNicole3000 shared on Instagram with Charlie Worsham

I saw this pic that Rashelle Smith got with "I Ain't Your Mama" singer Maggie Rose on Facebook
@_redcupdiaries had Tyler Farr himself share her pic on his Instagram page saying "Me and Jerrod at Winterblast in Norfolk, VA"

Think @JHipple got a little "Redneck Crazy" when she met Tyler Farr?
Corey and EB from our sister station Hot 100.5 in the photo booth...at least that's what I'm HOPING happened here!

Now we know who to thank for the fun balloons...Melanie Hacker!

Pat Nottingham shared this shot of the Eagle gang on Facebook.  FYI- someone told  yesterday that if I'm not smiling I look mad.  I'm not mad in this pic...that's just my face :)

Garrett Wilson was up front for Randy Houser

Looks like @gymaholic_85 had the best seat in the house for Jerrod Niemann!
@Purplehew posted on Instagram "Look What I Got"  Looks like she snagged one our banners- awesome!  Where you gonna hang it?!
Randy Houser has the #1 song in the country so we gave him a cake!  I somehow missed snagging a piece but he did share the pic on Twitter with his followers. Enjoy Randy!

Heart-Shaped Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Banana Pancakes

I found this recipe for Valentine's Day Pancakes that are both indulgent and low fat.  Wha??  How is that even possible?

Turns out, it is.

I give you Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Banana Pancakes.

Perfect for Valentine's Day...or any day of the year really!

The original recipe only calls for Chocolate Chip Banana pancakes, but I figured peanut butter goes great with all three so...why not throw some in?!

If you don't have heart shaped cookie cutters just use your Christmas ones.  You could make snowflake pancakes for a cold January morning.

Since it's just my husband and I, I halved all the ingredients from the original recipe.

So here's my tweaked recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unbleached flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 large banana, ripe, mashed well
  • 1/2 cup milk (I used Low fat Vanilla Soymilk in mine but dairy milk works too)
  • 1/4 cup egg beaters plus 1/8 cup.
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips and peanut butter chips
  • cooking spray

Directions:

Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. Combine milk, eggs, oil, vanilla and mashed bananas in another medium sized bowl and mix until smooth.

Combine wet ingredients with the dry and mix well with a wooden spoon until there are no more dry spots. Don't over-mix.

Lightly spray a skillet and your cookie cutters with cooking spray, Place the cookie cutter on the hot skillet and pour 1/4 cup of pancake batter. Add 1/2 teaspoon of chocolate chips and 1/2 teaspoon peanut butter chips in each pancake. It's important to wait to add the chocolate and peanut butter chips, if you mix it into the batter they will sink to the bottom.

When the pancake starts to bubble and the edges begin to set, flip the pancakes. Repeat with the remainder of the batter.

Don't forget to spray the cookie cutters with cooking spray...trust me, you won't want to clean those up afterwards if you don't!

Enjoy!

Couponing doesn't have to be extreme

Contrary to that TLC show, not everyone who coupons is THAT extreme. (and not all southerners are like the Honey Boo Boo family but that's a whole other post!)

Sure I love my little red coupon binder and hate buying anything if I can get it cheaper but I'm not about to buy 15 bottles of ketchup in one trip. Cereal on the other hand, I admit I hoard like it's going out of stock.

Remember Jerry's stash on Seinfeld?

Yeah that's puny compared to my cereal cabinet...um I mean pantry.

So whenever Harris Teeter or Farm Fresh roll out the Super Double coupon promotions I'm there...just not as bright and early as the "extreme couponers."

Yesterday Farm Fresh kicked off Super Doubles up to $3! That's a lot if you're new to the couponing world. I was excited at first...til I realized I didn't have any $2-3 coupons on stuff I would actually use. After searching my Sunday paper inserts and my usual online sites I decided a dollar doubled is better than nothing.

So instead of stocking up on anything just because I have a coupon for it, I took coupons for products I knew we'd use and found some good deals.

I had a total of $24.80 in coupons so that's a savings of 28%. That may not have the same WOW factor as "Extreme Couponing" but at least I know I'll use all of it...especially the cereal!

Antique finds

Weekends for my husband and I are usually spent shopping Antique stores, Goodwill and the RE store to see what kinds of deals and unique items we can find for our home.

Moving from an apartment to a house two years ago meant having a lot of empty rooms to fill.

One of our favorite spots in Hampton Roads to hit up is Antique Alley in Chesapeake. It's a row of small houses all owned by different people and we've found so many great little items.

My favorite shop.

Princess hanging out, waiting for shoppers to come play with her. I'm happy to oblige :)

I inevitably find an item I love but just can't afford

Until I stumble across my "pick." Yes, I like to pretend I'm Mike and Frank from American Pickers while antique shopping.

I fell in love with this but my first thought was to use it in the entryway to hang keys. Too bad, we don't have the wall space for it. As I was about to walk away my (genius) husband said "Would it be weird to use it in the bathroom?"

If by weird you mean totally awesome!! So this is our new addition for the spare bathroom. A place to hold extra toiletries for guests...complete with knobs to hang their towels.

I love it so much I just may have to pretend to be a guest and use the spare bathroom every now and then :)

Annual Photoshop Calendar gift

Every Christmas I make my husband a calendar of pictures of us...not just ordinary pictures though. I like to take our faces and put us into our favorite TV shows, movies and well, just whatever looks the silliest!

I started with one of my husband's favorite old shows: Quantum Leap

One of the many movies we watched over Christmas vacation: Roman Holiday

Have to make us superheroes whenever possible! The Avengers

The classic "Christmas in Connecticut"

I like cowboys...he likes Aliens

This year we became obsessed with Downtown Abbey! Free Mr. Bates!

The upstairs and downstairs of Downton Abby! Who knew we'd all be routing for cousins to get married?!

For the month of August on the calendar had to go with my old fav!

Since they will probably make us wait til the very last episode to get Jess and Nick together...I decided to speed up the process by making Brian and I "Jess" and "Nick"

Are we EVER going to find out who the mother is?!

"You sit on a throne of lies" My husband's catch phrase all holiday season after watching Elf.

Last but not least, our favorite pics are the ones where I make Brian as silly as possible. I can always succeed with the help of "It's Always Sunny in PA"

Christmas Vacation

My Christmas vacation consisted of 3 things: Family, Food and Laziness!

Christmas is really all about the "kids" right? So Bailey and Louie waited on Santa Paws...um I mean Santa Claus. (Don't worry, we turned the fire off so Santa wouldn't burn his tushy)

and they helped open presents Christmas morning

My husband knows me...and my love of Hostess well!

We made Christmas dinner: Apple Pecan Stuffing, Au Gratin Potatoes, Broccoli Casserole. For my husband and the cats, a real turkey, and for me Tofurkey :)

And we watched a lot of Christmas movies together! Seriously, I think we watched every Christmas movie out there.

I, of course, did some baking. Dessert for the in-laws: Red Velvet Bundt Cake

My favorite picture taken this Christmas: Bailey and Brian hanging out in front of the tree

For New Years we stayed in and made pizza, drank some champagne and watched the ball drop (so NOT the same without Dick Clark!)

And apparently someone didn't like my New Year's kiss!

I started the New Year with my last Twinkie (ever?!) Let's hope not!

Here's to a great 2013 filled with family, fun and Twinkies!

sadly, we were not drunk in that photo...just really silly!
