Garth Brooks heads to the Hall of Fame!

Congratulations to Garth Brooks!! He is one of the newest members of the Country Music Hall of Fame. His induction was announced this morning in Nashville and at the ceremony Garth said it was an honor to be named but at the same time he feels guilty when his heroes like Randy Travis, Keith Whitley and Ricky Skaggs have still not been inducted.

"It's kind of odd to be in this room," he said. "You want to be mentioned in the same breath with George Strait and Reba McEntire -- those are the two heroes I grew up with," he said, adding others like Merle Haggard and George Jones.

"Now you're gonna get to be in the same hall with them? Make no mistake, I don't think I'm on that level. But it's pretty cool to have your name listed with them," he said.

Garth will be formally inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame at a private ceremony later this year in Nashville. Grand Ole Opry star Connie Smith is also going into the Hall in the Veterans Era category, and Nashville session piano player Hargus "Pig" Robbins is being inducted in the Recording and/or Touring Musician Active Prior to 1980 category.
