I need to come up with some good come backs!

Everyone has that one person in their family who just can't keep their trap shut. For me, it's my cousin who when Brian and I announced our engagement said (and this was not in a joking manner) "Don't! Why would you want to get married?" A simple congratulations would be sufficient but thanks for your input buddy.

So we avoided him this Thanksgiving but going to Brian's family instead where instead we had to deal with a member of his family asking the inevitable question to any newlywed couple..."When are you going to have kids?" And after I replied "not for a while, we want to enjoy some alone time for a bit." She said..."you're not getting any younger. And Brian's getting old." We're the same age but again, thanks for your input on my biological clock lady.

I seriously need some good comebacks for the baby questions since my only response was to walk away and avoid her the rest of the night. My dad's suggestion is to say "We're not trying yet but we're practicing a lot." A little weird coming from my dad lol but not a bad response. Got any comebacks for me? I need some in reserve for the next time she attacks.

How do you explain that one dad?

With everyone pressed for time and having to split Thanksgiving between families, my family has always bucked the trend and just celebrated early. We do our celebration the Sunday before to make sure we all get to see each other and the other sides of our families too.

So we gathered at my grandfather's house this past weekend to celebrate. Now, I am a little bit of an odd ball in my family for one reason. I come from a family of avid hunters and I declared at 12 years old that I was going to be a vegetarian and never looked back. I've grown used to seeing the deer heads lines up on my grandfather's wall and as a kid I used to talk to them and pet them. This weekend though, my 5 year old niece noticed them for the first time and asked "Are those real?" Well...yes. "Then why are they on the wall?" Good question. Not one that I was going to answer though, for fear of what my sister might do to me. I just kept my mouth shut and my aunt spoke up saying "You'll have to ask your grandfather." My dad, wisely, kept his head down and continued to read his paper until she forgot about it and moved on to another subject.

I wonder if he'll come up with an answer by the time we travel back to the house for Christmas. I'm sure her inquisitive mind won't let this one rest forever.

People are crazy

Out of all the animals I would want to live like for a day...maybe a dolphin to swim and play in the ocean, or a giraffe to be see over everybody or even a cat because it would be the easiest day ever...one that never crossed my mind was living like a hamster.

Unfortunately it crossed somebody's mind and they thought it would great to make a hamster hotel...for humans! Check out the video here

Seriously?! Paying to eat hamster food, run around in a large hamster ball and sleep in hay is the only way to break out of your daily routine?

Taylor Swift is taking over the world

It's hard to keep up with everything Taylor Swift is doing, music, TV, movies, a clothing line and now she's announced a new venture! Greeting cards, wrapping paper and more.

This girl is brilliant! (and Wynonna thinks she doesn't deserve entertainer of the year?!) Now you can wrap up her CDs or clothes and give it as a gift wrapped in her own paper and throw in her greeting the recipient via a card. It's Taylor mania.

Not to mention with this American Greeting partnership she'll also have stationery, online photo personalization products and online greetings. It will all begin arriving on store shelves and be available online in spring 2010.

Red Carpet Looks

Gotta love the country music fashionistas! And the guys too of course. Some new looks debuted tonight- Kellie Pickler as a brunette?! Some bloggers like it- I'm on the fence

My fav red carpet look for the women...Jennifer from Sugarland. What a beautiful dress!

Best guy...Keith Urban. Giving a little sneak peak of his tattoo. Gotta love a bad boy :)

Now for the worst...Is this Leann Rimes or a racoon?

I have to admit to having a bit of a crush on Dave from Lady A...but not in these two tight and too short pants...not so much

And Martina- seriously you are too pretty for this! Love the top, bottom is a little mermaid like and what the heck is going on in the middle?

CMA Thoughts

CMA Awards right now- thought I'd share my ramblings as the show goes on...

Opening monologue with Carrie and Brad- hilarious!

Yeah! Lady A won Single of the Year for I Run To You- Love that song! Had to make it a last minute addition to our wedding CD I loved it so much.

Zac Brown Band singing The Devil Went Down to GA. I wasn’t looking up at the TV and heard them start and for a sec I thought it really was Charlie Daniels singing!

So excited for Lady A getting Vocal Group of the Year. Love that this category is actually competitive now and it isn't assumed that Flatts will win every year. Makes it more fun :)

New Artist- such a hard category! So many great new artist came out this year. Love that Darius got it- would've been happy with any of the other guys too though.

Love seeing Vince Gill back on the CMA's!!! And I'd watch Daughtry play anywhere

Brad Paisley is hosting, performing and tweeting! I'm following all the artists updates on twitter and after he performed he tweeted "how was that?" Good Brad, as always.

Gretchen Wilson just tweeted "I've heard 3 country songs so far and we're an hour and half in" Hmm...maybe she's just a little bitter since she's watching it from home? I think there have lots of great performances already tonight.

That kid from Randy Houser's video is too cute!

Ok I like Sugarland and was happy they won Duo- but was it classy of them to invite B&D up...or a little too much of a pity invite? They are Brooks and Dunn- one of the most successful acts in country music and have given countless acceptance speeches...they aren't Taylor Swift at the VMA's being denied her moment.

Nobody deserves a video award more than Taylor Swift. Her and Brad Paisley are putting out the best concept videos these days.

I'm a big Miranda Lambert fan but she needs to learn to fake a loosing happy face better. Show some teeth girl- you looked ticked not to win.

Is it just me or was the Kenny/Dave Matthews duet cut short?

Wow Taylor Swift Entertainer of the Year! It was the night of upsets- although she deserved it and I wasn't surprised to her take the reins from Kenny. I would've called it going to Taylor but every time I see Keith Urban I get distracted and want him to win :)

I found a new side job :)

I was out at the Chesapeake Coast Guard Exchange today and so was MMA fighter Ryan "Darth" Bader...got him to teach me how to do a choke hold. Think I'm ready for a side job now ;) I got home and showed Brian this pic and he said he's not too sure how he feels about me knowing how to put him in a choke hold now...he better be on his toes lol

What a wake up call

So I woke up at 9:30 this morning to the sound of someone going through my refrigerator. I was wondering why my husband was being so loud and didn't shut the bedroom door like he normally does when making breakfast. Then I realized it was too late for Brian to still be home.

I got out of bed, walked to the kitchen in my PJ's and found a strange man going through my frig.

Now, anyone who knows me, knows not to scare me. I scream and I mean loud! I've been known to scream so loud in the studio that others can hear it through supposedly sound proofed walls. So it's really surprising that I didn't scream my head off. Instead, I just stood there starring at this man and trying to figure out why his head was in my frig and all of my food was laid out on the counters. And all I could come up to say was "Did you knock?"

He turns to me and I realized that it was the apartment maintenance man trying to fix the frig which hadn't been working properly. He said "yes, I knocked a few times. Nobody answered so I figured nobody was here. You must have been dead asleep." Guess so.

It could have been a worse ending so I was pretty thankful it wasn't a random stranger going through my frig. I was still way too freaked out to go back to sleep though so right now what I'm thankful for is coffee to help me get through the night at work :)

If you missed Taylor Swift on SNL...

Some of the skits were dumb, as usual, but that's not Taylor's fault. The "Parent Driver" skit was funny though and her monologue song was great too...

Check out the Parent Driver skit here.

and the Twilight spoof "Firelight"

Taylor Swift on SNL this week

Is it just me or is SNL getting worse every year? Every week I try to watch and I end up turning it 5 minutes in. Gonna have to stick it out this week though because Taylor Swift is hosting and the musical guest! That's gotta make it better, right?

(this video is a little messed up in the beginning but if you wait about 20 seconds, it'll pop up)

Gotta love dumb people in the news!

I love reading the dump people in the news stories. Found two good ones today.

In Ohio, a Halloween partier was dressed as a Breathalyzer...can you see where this is going...yep, he was arrested early last Sunday morning for drunk driving.

Eighteen-year-old James Miller was allegedly driving the wrong way out of the entrance to a one-way street when cops pulled him over. In his front seat and trunk were the remnants of a case of Bud Light. His blood-alcohol level -- measured on a real breathalyzer -- was over twice the legal limit. He also had multiple fake Ohio IDs. He was charged with multiple offenses and released into the custody of his girlfriend.

This next story just shows you don't mess with God- or one of his stores lol....

Police in California allege a Family Christian Book Store employee accidentally recorded himself setting up a peeping camera in the store's bathroom. Police said Joseph David Ramon Moreaux accidentally taped himself hiding the camera between boxes in the corner of a store restroom used by both men and women. The camera was discovered Sunday by a female patron who alerted police to its presence. Officers said they found the video of Moreaux hiding the camera on the device.

New favorite tv show

It's a tough choice for me over which new show I love more...Modern Family or Glee. They are so good! Haven't been too happy that the World Series means no Glee for last 2 weeks but then I saw this. Thank you World Series for giving us at least a little Glee fix

Vacation Horror Stories

My husband and I decided to go away this past weekend. Took a trip up to Natural Bridge, Va and met up with his parents to get some family time in too. There is only one hotel in Natural Bridge and it is within walking distance to everything...the bridge, the waterfall, caverns so it seemed like the logical choice.

Before leaving I looked up the hotel again to get directions and that's when I started to read reviews of it...bad reviews. I was semi-prepared for it being dirty and the staff being rude but when I walked in and experienced it for myself, it was a whole other story.

We got to our room, set our stuff down and Brian went to look out the window to see what kind of view we had. This is what he saw...

Yes, that is a half eaten piece of pizza on our window sill. Maybe that's what they consider breakfast in bed? lol

We couldn't get the window open either to try to knock it off. I thought, oh well, it's only one night. Until it was 1:30 am, 80 degrees in the room because the heat was broken and we had no window to open.

So I called the front desk and they said we could switch rooms. The guy comes up to give us the new room key but when my husband opens the door, the guy just walks into our room. It's 1:30 in the morning and I'm in my PJs scrambling for a cover up. He bangs on the window and is able to get it open. Thank goodness...we thought.

Fell asleep just to wake up an hour later to it SLAMMING shut! We just about had a heart attack! Luckily, Brian got it back open this time, shoved a pillow in it so that it wouldn't slam shut again and we tried to get a few more hours of sleep.

On top of all that...weather.com lied and the sunny skies we looked forward to on Sunday turned into rain and we had to cut the trip short and head back to the beach. Even with all of the litte annoyances, we still had a good time. We were with each other and with family so that's what most important in the end :)
